Although it is a little celebrated holiday in Brazil, halloween is very popular here. However, the celebration is even more popular in countries like the United States and Canada. In these countries, the houses are decorated with webs and spiders, children go out on the streets asking for sweets in the neighborhood houses and various halloween games are played.
Here in Brazil, it is a little different. The day is better known as Halloween or Saci Day, and is of much less importance. We still have costume parties, but we have far fewer celebrations and festivities on the date, which may end up disappointing some children. But that does not mean that we cannot do anything on this amazing date.
Shall we discover some halloween pranks?
We grew up with films that show this special night, and we often want to make this date special for children. So today we are going to present a list of various halloween games that everyone can do at home, to make Halloween more memorable for everyone!
Handmade ghost
Ghosts and spirits are a trademark in horror movies and, during halloween, they are some of the most popular monsters among kids! So, how about enjoying and making your own ghost with this halloween game? In addition to being a lot of fun, it is an excellent exercise in imagination and adaptation, since you can use anything to assemble your ghost!
In addition, this game is super simple to do! The necessary materials are: a cardboard box, school supplies such as pointless scissors, colored pens and pencils, glue and everything else you have at hand. Just draw the ghosts on the cardboard and cut them out. Then, use the pencils and markers to color, and glue ornaments like balls of paper mache or cotton to finish your personalized ghost!
A cool thing to do with the ghosts ready, is to use them to decorate the house during Halloween, hanging the hauntings around the house. This gives the place a frightening atmosphere, as well as showing the children that they have done something important enough to be visible to everyone!
Creating the frankenstein
Another of the most famous halloween monsters, Frankenstein is a mixture of several different parts, almost like a monstrous lego. But, despite the terror, this concept is the root of a very fun halloween game.
With old magazines and newspapers, sulfite sheets, colored pencils and, again, everything you have available, use and use your imagination to create your own Frankenstein monster! The only rules are: your monster in the end has to look human (have arms, legs and head, for example) and let your imagination run wild! The final product is almost always a unique and frighteningly amusing monster.
In the spider’s web!
One of the most emblematic Halloween decorations is the cobwebs. These sticky things are a nightmare for many people, and they look scary everywhere. But, they are not just for that.
For this halloween game, you will need duct tape and paper balls! The idea is to make a web with duct tape, using the door frame as a base to arm the web. Once your « trap » is ready, enjoy and decorate it with plastic spiders, just to complete the scary look.
This game is very simple: the participants throw balls on the web, trying to hit the adhesive tape and stick the balls on it. Whoever gets the most, wins! The prize can be something simple, like a box of chocolates or some Halloween sweets, like sweet dentures, worm gums, etc.
If you are looking to make ornaments, a tip is to make webs with string, and put them on the outside, attaching toy spiders to them, and leaving them with a very scary look.
Mummy’s hide and seek
This Halloween game needs nothing more than a roll of toilet paper to wrap up and dress up as a mummy. After using all the toilet paper to make a mummy person, it’s time to play hide and seek!
The mummy will choose a place in the yard and, in the place he chose, count down from 10, while the other people hide around the house. When the mummy finishes counting, she must announce that she has finished counting, and go after the fugitives!
Whenever the mummy finds someone hidden, it needs to touch it to catch the person. If she catches you, you go to the chosen place, and wait for the game to end. The mummy wins if it catches all the fugitives, while the fugitive who manages to get to the place the mummy has chosen is immune. At the end of the game, the mummy and all the immune system win a prize, which can be a bag of themed sweets, for example.
Take down the monster
One of the biggest fantasies of every child is to defeat monsters and villains, and with this game they will realize this fantasy! To assemble this halloween game you will need: plastic cups, markers and marbles (like those made of rubber). Use the pens to draw monster faces on the cups, and assemble them as if it were a small pyramid.
The game works in a very simple way, one person at a time plays the ball and tries to knock down as many « monsters » as possible. Keep a note of the number of monsters dropped every time someone plays, to find out how many points each made. In the end, whoever has the most points after a few rounds wins.
But, attention! Be sure to leave the pyramid mounted in an area without many objects to break, since no one wants to cause collateral damage in the fight against evil, is it? Prefer to set up the game in the yard or in a room with few objects to break.
Candy Hunt
Much like the famous « treasure hunt », the hunt for sweets is a Halloween game in the same style. The adults hide Halloween candies in the yard, while the children dress up as monsters and look for the hidden treats.
To make it even more themed, decorate the entire yard! In addition to making the experience more memorable for children, it is a good exercise in creativity if you make the decorations together with the children. Another tip is also to leave the “treasures” in halloween themed bags, to avoid getting dirty or spreading around the yard.
Witch’s Wart
Our latest halloween game is just another simple game. To make this joke, you’ll need a blindfold, paper to draw the witch, and modeling clay to make her various warts.
The rules are simple: the child takes a “mole” and is blindfolded. While she can’t see, she has to put the mole on the tip of the witch’s nose. Whoever leaves the wart as close as possible to the tip of the nose wins, wins.
The prize can be anything, but Halloween candy is always the best choice! In addition to being themed, they are cheap enough to make multiple rounds with multiple winners possible!
