Walkthrough: How to Make a Mirrored Tray
Now let's get down to business! To make your DIY mirrored tray you will need the following materials:
- Mirror with frame (the size you prefer) – buy the rectangular ones from 1.99 stores because they are cheaper
- 2 drawer handles (optional – use if you want a tray with handles)
- Pliers
- Brush
- Fountain pen (for painting details)
- Handmade white paint for wood (or the color of your choice)
- Beads, pearls, rhinestones to decorate (optional)
Now, let's go step-by-step:
First, remove the mirror from the frame and drill two holes at each end so that the handles can be fitted. If you don't want the handles, skip this step.
Paint the frame in white. Even if you want the final result of another color, it is important to apply a coat of paint to the counter to neutralize the original color of the frame. Swipe as many hands as necessary for the original color to be fully covered, but remember let the layer dry completely before passing another hand.
Use the permanent pen to draw the details on the frame, and also use the rhinestones, pearls or other details you want to glue:
Decorate according to your taste. Afterwards, put the mirror back and use the holes previously made to screw the handles.
So, did you like the idea? These trays are beautiful, also perfect for gift giving: how about creating a bathroom kit or a baby hygiene kit? Use the tray as a support and decorate the matching utensils. It looks great!
This same DIY can be used to create trays that are not mirrored, just use a frame. See the DIY in the video below:
